Started in 2016 it has seen massive success and is generating substantial incomes for many users.
So, what is it all about and how do you make money from your own Onlyfans Profile?
Onlyfans is pretty similar to most other social media platforms with the exception being your "fans" subscribe to view your content.
A very simple idea really. The majority of us have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc and have many followers on them so it makes perfect sense to monetize the content you put up.
If people want to see what you do or hear what you have to say then in most cases you could be earning a nice second income or even make it a full time occupation.
It is no different to subscribing to say Sky movies for instance. If we want to see the latest movies then we will pay to see them.
On Onlyfans people are willing to pay to see a variety of content uploaded by people they follow because they want to see it.
For example. Lets say you do tutorials on nail art. This takes some time to do and if you have a lot of followers that would suggest they like what you post and are interested in your content. Some of those followers would be more than happy to pay a little subscription fee to get premium content from you, especially if you give them incentives like posts only put on Onlyfans. If they know you have more or better content on there than you post for free elsewhere they will feel compelled to subscribe for fear of missing out on your best work.

As explained above you make money from Onlyfans by getting paid subscribers but it doesn't stop there.
There are many other ways to make even more money:
You have the option within your profile to send "premium" content in messages for an additional fee.
Your subscribers can "tip" you on any posts and any messages at any time.
You can offer things for sale to your subscribers if what you do has physical items you can send out.
You can charge a fee for requested material, this could be a certain tutorial for example.
You can earn from referring others to Onlyfans to set their own profiles up and you earn a commission on whatever they earn for the lifetime of their membership.
To go into more detail on the kind of cash you can earn here are some typical examples but keep in mind these are not guarantees. What you could earn is totally dependant on your efforts, your content and your fan base to name just a few things.

Subscriptions
When you set your new profile up you get to choose how much you wish to charge subscribers for access to your Onlyfans profile. So this will be what you will earn from every subscriber, every month for as long as they remain subscribed to you.
PPV messages
There is a great feature within OnlyFans that lets you message your active fans in bulk. You are able to send out premium content to all of your fans at once and charge a fee to open the content.
I have found this to be very lucrative and would recommend you use this feature to increase your income dramatically.
A word of advice though, any content you send out on a PPV basis should be inaccessible for free anywhere else, this will lead to complaints. As long as the content is new or unseen and is of a higher quality or length then it should be worth sending out.
Tips
Whenever you put a post up on your Onlyfans profile your subscribers have a call to action button where they can "tip" you if they feel you have gone above and beyond in that post. This is also an option in private messages.
Physical sales
If what you post about also has physical items that you can post to people or even digital products that people can download then there is scope to promote and sell these to your fan base as they are looking for what you are selling as that is why they have subscribed.
Requested material
Often your fans will ask you to post about a specific subject or to put up a tutorial that they need to learn. You can charge a fee to do this if you wish.
Referrals
Once you have set up your Onlyfans account you will be allocated a referral link. You can use this link to send to others you may know that wish to sign up to Onlyfans and post their own content.
If someone subscribes to Onlyfans using your referral link you will earn 5% commission on anything they earn for the lifetime of their membership.
5% may not sound like a lot but do bare in mind you will have done nothing more than refer this person to earn from their work. If you refer lots of people then you can multiply that 5% by however many people you have sign up under you. This can be potentially a huge income for very little effort on your part. Something to really consider promoting once you get up and running.
So what could all this add up to?
Well, as I mentioned above, it will vary depending on how many followers you already have, what you specialise in and how much effort you are prepared to put in to obtaining new subscribers and referrals but below I will give a conservative example.
We will say that you offer fitness tutorials and healthy eating recipes.
Let's assume you have 5,000 followers over all of your social media accounts and you promote your Onlyfans profile to all of these at regular intervals. Now let's assume you get a 5% take up rate in your first month. That will be 250 subscribers in your first month.
Now let us say you are charging $10 (Onlyfans uses American dollars) per month to subscribe.
Once a week you send out some premium content at a cost of $10 to all of your subscribed fans and 30 pay to see this content.
Over the month you put up 15 posts/videos and 10% of your subscribers send you a tip of $5 on at least 1 post.
You also send out a message offering some protein filled recipes for £5 to your subscribers of which you get a good uptake and sell 100 of these.
5 of your fans ask for you to put together a work out and diet plan specifically for them and what they want to achieve and you charge $50 for this service.
Finally you get some of your friends and followers asking how to go about setting up their own Onlyfans page so you refer them through your referral link. You get 10 people register and set up their own pages and they in turn get their followers subscribing to them. In the first month they may not earn a huge amount and some may register towards the end of your first month but this income will build over time as you refer more people and they obtain more subscribers. Let us say on average they are earning just $1,000 each.
So potentially this would add up to:
Subscription fee $10 X 250 = $2,500
PPV messages - 30 x $10 x 4 weeks = $1,200
Tips - 10% of 250 = 25 X $5 tips = $ ,125
Sales - 100 X £5 = $ ,500
Requests - 5 X £50 = $ ,250
Referrals - 10 X $1,000 X 5% = $ ,500
Total - $5,075
This is EVERY month and builds as you get more subscribers and more referrals. The earning potential is almost limitless.
Obviously this is hypothetical but there are lots already making a lot more than this on Onlyfans and there have been news reports of some earning in excess of $100,000 per month! Now that is a great income by anyone's standards!

So how does this relate to making money in the adult industry?
Another difference with Onlyfans is that there are very few restrictions with regards to what content you can put up. This is where the biggest earners have taken advantage of Onlyfans.
On their Onlyfans profiles they are posting a variety of sexual content for a variety of wants and needs. Both male and female users have found that a lot of their followers on other social media sites are looking for pictures and videos of a sexual nature of them and realised there is a market for it.....a big market!
Have you ever had a random message from someone asking for nudes or sending you pics of themselves? Most have at some point and if so then these are potential subscribers.
If you are happy performing in front of a camera, modelling, sex chat, etc then this is a great site to use to earn money from.
Privacy
What's great about Onlyfans is your privacy is protected. Customers do not get any information regarding your location, address, bank details, email or telephone number. Onlyfans take the payments from your subscribers and they in turn pay you so you do not need to give out any personal information (unless you want to of course but I would advise against this particularly if your content is of an adult nature!). The last thing anyone wants is a stalker turning up at their home or place of work!
Charges
Yes there is a charge for using the Onlyfans platform. It is 20% of your earnings and this includes tips and any other earnings.
This is a fair charge as they provide the platform and the tools to give the best money making potential.
There are lots of features to help you save time allowing you to concentrate on promoting yourself. For instance you can schedule posts, send messages to all subscribers, live chat etc.
How easy is it to register?
Registering is very easy, just like any other social media site but there is a little more to it when it comes to being verified as a content provider.
Because of the general nature of the site being of adult material and to protect you and your content they must do some checks to confirm you are over 18 and are the person you are claiming to be. This protects them from under age performers and protects you from identity theft. If someone tries to set up an account in your name with your content that they have stole from elsewhere then these checks will trip them up.
They require you to send in a picture of yourself and of some form of photographic id and to submit banking details to confirm age and address.
It normally takes between 24 and 72 hours to be verified but the actual process is really simple providing you are who you claim to be.
